Most of the images I use
for book covers are photos or artwork purchased from microstock sites.
Some are free public domain images. I'm also glad to work with a client's
existing images.
Almost all stock images
require some sort of processing -- re-sizing, contrast/brightness, color
correction, or other types of image manipulation. I process them as the
license allows.
I also create backgrounds,
layer images, add titles and apply a variety of other processing/image
manipulation for the greatest visual effect.
Covers measure 6x9
inches; resolutions are 72 dpi for e-books and 300 dpi for print books.
They are delivered as image files (jpg, bmp, tiff -- pdf for print covers)
attached to email.
E-books (front only)
start at $25. Print books (front, back, spine) start at $75.
"I recently hired Connie at Word Slinger Boutique to create
a cover for my upcoming historical fiction release, The 777. All
I did was give her a few stock photos and a basic idea of what I needed
and Connie did the rest. I was very happy with the results, she made my
cover come to life. You won't find a better cover designer at such
a reasonable price anywhere online. I highly recommend Connie."

The
images below are those used in the creation of the cover for my novel
Southern
Man. The model images were purchased from Dreamstime.com and iStockphoto.com.
The backgrounds were removed with PhotoDeluxe. The textured background
was created in Ultimate Paint. The images were layered and darkened in
PhotoDeluxe. The title is made with the font FZ Script 7 which was stretched,
outlined and shadowed in Ultimate Paint.
